Are you addicted to smoothie bowls like me?  Or maybe you haven’t tried one before?

We have been enjoying them as a spring and summer snack for a couple years now, and I am in love!  They are so creamy, delicious, and a great nutritious plant based snack when you want something sweet and satisfying.  They are fully customizable and you can make them a full meal or just a snack.  One thing that I grew up hearing is that bananas are constipating and you should only eat one daily or less.   This is so untrue!!  In fact, bananas are great if you are constipated and need some help in the poo room.  They are very soothing to your tummy, and I usually eat 2-4 daily and I know people who eat up to 20 bananas every day… Yes that is a lot, but these people have conditioned themselves to work up to that amount and feel the best when they eat an abundance of raw fruit.  Bananas are calorie dense and filling.  they are a great snack for germaphobes too -me- as you can buy them wherever you travel to, every country and no-one has touched your actual food!!  LOL  P-E-R-F-E-C-T  So bananas are one of my favourite travel foods for this reason.  Also they are the basis of almost all my favourite smoothie bowls and todays recipe.

Blubana bowl

  • 2 Frozen Bananas
  • 2 cups Frozen Blueberries
  • 1-2 Ounces water
  • 1 Kiwi (optional for topping)
  • 1 Cup Granola (optional for topping)
  1. Blend the frozen bananas and blueberries with an ounce of water, adding a small amount of water if needed to blend. (you want it thick, use the tamper if you have a Vitamix)
  2. Pour into a bowl and top with your favourite fruit and granola or eat plain as an ice cream.

This is a great fun way for kids too, to get in more fruits into their diet.  It’s simple, and tastes just like fruit flavoured ice-cream, except its real fruit!  Healthy, nutritious and delicious.  Eat as much of this deliciousness as you want, (please remember fruit sugars metabolize differently in the body than processed sugar) make it daily, mix up the fruit and topping, have fun with it, let the kids choose what fruits to try.  Bananas, mangos, papayas, yield the creamiest of smoothie bowls.  Enjoy all the fruits your markets have to offer, try something new you event tried before.

Because you’re worth it.
